Fibre

The ultimate in speed and reliability

Leased lines provide your business with a dedicated fibre connection to the Internet and deliver the ultimate in broadband connectivity. They are not shared or contended with the ICUK network ensuring you get consistently fast broadband connection all day, every day. As well as offering 1:1 contention the speeds are symmetrical, so unlike with ADSL or FTTx the upstream and download speeds are the same. This can open up options to use your connections for more applications.

As well as delivering consistent high speed connectivity, these lines are with a full service level agreement. This helps safeguard against the unexpected and ensures swift guaranteed action from ICUK and our partners. Failure to deliver within service agreements results in compensation being applied.

Fibre leased lines are ideal for clients who:

  • Require high speed Internet connectivity
  • Want a future proof solution
  • Require reliable connections for use with mission critical or sensitive data
  • Have a requirement to transmit large amounts of data over the Internet or inter-site
  • Require broadband connectivity to be supplied with a service level agreement for rapid assistance and guaranteed fix times
  • Feel that traditional broadband connections are not providing the speed or resilience their business demands

  • Speeds / Bandwidth
Bearer 1Mbps - 10Gbps By delivering a larger bearer you give yourself room to grow should your bandwidth needs change. We can deliver bearers 2Mbps, 10Mbps, 100Mbps, 500Mbps, 1Gbps and 10Gbps.
Bandwidth Scaleable We can deliver a variety of bandwidth solutions to meet your needs. For example, we could deliver a bearer of 100Mbps and commit the bandwidth to 10Mbps initially.
Speed Symmetrical The speeds delivered are the same downstream as they are upstream.
Bandwidth 1:1 Non-Contended The bandwidth supplied is not shared with anyone on the ICUK network. As such you won't see any fluctuations in speed other than what is being consumed by your workers.

    Contract
Pricing Varies The price you pay will vary depending on your location and bandwidth requirements. As such it is important you make contact with a member of our team to provide you with a tailored quote.
Contract Length 1, 3 or 5 Years Free installation options are available on longer term contracts. We can provide you with multiple package deals for you to choose from.
SLA 4 Hour Fix In the unlikely event of a failure on your line we will provide on-site assistance, around the clock, with a 4 hour fix aim.
Data Caps Unmetered There are no usage caps or fair usage policies applied to leased lines.

    Included As Standard
Static IPv4 Included We can supply a routed block of IPv4 addresses at no additional cost. The size of the allocation must comply with RIPE rules.
Static IPv6 Included As standard we can supply your connection with a /48 allocation offering countless IP addresses for you to use.
Monitoring Included We proactively monitor your connection and will be available around the clock to offer support in the event of failure.

EFM

Cost effective alternative to fibre

Ethernet First Mile (EFM) technology is perfect for any business that is looking for cost effective, high bandwidth connectivity to the Internet. It sits between ADSL (which can be limiting depending on your location) and a full leased line (which can be prohibitively expensive to small business). It makes use of multiple bonded copper pairs (upto a maximum of 8) providing speeds of upto 35Mbps. These speeds are symmetrical ensuring you have the same up and downstream speeds, making it perfect for VoIP calls or when handling large amounts of data. The multiple bonded pairs also offer resilience, in as much should one or multiple pairs develop a fault, the connection still operates albeit at a slower speed.

As well as delivering consistent high speed connectivity, these lines are with a full service level agreement. This helps safeguard against the unexpected and ensures swift guaranteed action from ICUK and our partners. Failure to deliver within service agreements results in compensation being applied.

In summary EFM delivers:

  • Improved reliability using multiple copper pairs (upto a maximum of 8)
  • Symmetrical speeds perfect for VoIP and other other bandwidth sensitive applications
  • Enhanced support with 7 hour fault fix time scales
  • High speed and low contention broadband connectivity upto 35Mbps without the need for phone lines

  • Speeds / Bandwidth
Speed 2Mbps - 35Mbps We are able to offer guaranteed speeds from 2Mbps to 35Mbps upto 4.5km from the exchange. Speeds can be scaled by adding more pairs upto a maximum of 8.
Contention 1:1 The bandwidth supplied is not shared with anyone. As such you won't see any fluctuations in speed other than what is being consumed by your workers.
Live EFM Nodes 721 There are 721 live EFM nodes available to us across the UK.
Exchanges 1080 1080 exchanges have been built to deploy EFM.
Coverage Approx 60% Approximately 60% of UK businesses have EFM available to them.
Time scales 25 Working Days It typically takes 25 working days for an EFM circuit to be installed.

Pricing Varies The price you pay will vary depending on your location and bandwidth requirements. As such it is important you make contact with a member of our team to provide you with a tailored quote.
Contract Length 1 or 3 Years Free installation options are available on longer term contracts. We can provide you with multiple package deals for you to choose from.
SLA 7 Hour Fix In the unlikely event of a failure on your line we will provide on-site assistance, around the clock, with a 7 hour fix aim.
Resilience Yes Multi-pair delivery means the loss of a single pair doesn't result in total loss of service. Additional resilience is enabled through distribution over five units within an exchange. Pairs within a single EFM circuit are split over the units.

GEA / EoFTTC

Utilising FTTC technologies

Generic Ethernet Access (GEA) / Ethernet Over FTTC (EoFTTC) uses FTTC and FTTP technologies to provide a non-contended path to the Internet. By 2016 about two thirds of the UK will be able receive this technology. It's comparatively low cost to install, speedy delivery times, and higher headlines speeds compared to EFM makes it a compelling option to consider if it's available in your area.

Unlike fibre leased lines or EFM, it doesn't benefit from symmetrical speeds for uploads and downloads. It comes in three variations with the ultimate speed being determined by the quality and length of your line in much the same way you would expect from traditional ADSL or FTTC. Where it differs itself is in the consistency of speed as it isn't subject to contention. Much like with it's EFM and leased line alternatives a service level agreement is in place to ensure you get the support you need around the clock with service credits available if targets aren't met.

GEA is ideal for clients who:

  • Place emphasis on higher download speeds than upload
  • Operate in an FTTC or FTTP enabled area
  • Require a quick delivery time to install a leased line solution
  • Require an unmetered and unrestricted alternative to traditional broadband
  • Need the peace of mind a 5 hour SLA can provide
  • Require download speeds of upto 80Mbps and upload speeds of upto 20Mbps
  • Prices start from £75 per month

  • Speeds / Bandwidth
Download Speed Variable The speed you achieve depends on the distance from your enabled cabinet and the quality of your line. There are 2 variations of download speed - upto 40Mbps and upto 80Mbps.
Upload Speed Asymmetrical There are a total of three upload packages. Upto 2Mbps, upto 10Mbps and upto 20Mbps. The speed you achieve is down to the distance from the enabled cabinet and your requirements.
Bandwidth 1:1 Non-Contended The bandwidth supplied is not shared with anyone on the ICUK network. As such you won't see any fluctuations in speed other than what is being consumed by your workers.
